Mary's rock precariously balanced in a crevice between two of the standing stones at Pentre Ifan cromlech, near Newport, in West Wales. (It fell out right after I took this shot.) It's backlit by late afternoon sun; 28 September, 2011.

Mary's fast-eroding petrograph pressed into a knot of ivy clinging to an oak tree on the grounds of Ty Newydd, the National Writers' Centre for Wales, where I taught in late August / early September, 2011.

A string of Mary petrographs set in a river in Chester, Vermont, August, 2009.

Another Chester, Vermont image of petrographs in dry and wet river sand. I find this one to have a curiously formal aspect, like a series of 19th century miniatures. August, 2009.
